Letter O Week

Since its been SO hot here in Texas we decided to go with a cooler theme this week. We did letter O is for Ocean! We learned all about sea animals and shells. 

On Monday I planned our Muffin Tin Monday lunch around our theme.

Top : blue bubbles(marshmellows), Octopus(hot dog), Fish(goldfish crackers)
Bottom: Tiny Starfish(cereal stars), Seaweed(cucumber), Shells(mac and cheese shells)

 We read millions of books about the ocean and Isaiah's favorite, the Shark. (I just wanna add that those shark book easy readers sure are graphic. The one we had talked about the shark ripping the flesh off the seal. hmmm a little much for a five year old I think. Thats all he would talk about the rest of the night.lol)

Some other fun "O" things we did were:

• played the game Operation
• read a childrens devotion (from our weekly devotions activity) about what it means to OBEY
• watched Octonauts
• made Orange Julius drinks
• made cute little Octopus
• practiced fishing with our Ocean puzzle
• made Ocean animal handprints(rainbow fish)
• LOTS of worksheets about ocean animals
• made an Ocean waterbed outside(ok so we attempted...it actually didn't work at all so we made a slip and slide instead):)
• we played many games that teach you about OBEYING:)...red light/green light, mother may I, and simon says
• watched Finding Nemo
• Had an Operation Kindness Day...this one I will post about VERY soon.

The kids Octopus. These turned out so good. We added cheerios for the suctions. Isaacs cracks me up because his has an eyeball growing out of the leg and Isaiahs has one big eye and one small. lol...so cute!

Seashell Observation sheet! Isaiah did this and circled the ones he thought fit with the shell. He did two different observations with the two different shells.
