Wreck it Ralph~ {mini} Family Movie Night

Today both big boys had dentist appointments. The weather is NASTY (cold and rainy) and afterwards we came right back home to stay for the rest of the day. The boys recently got the new movie Wreck it Ralph and we thought it would be fun to do a mini movie day!
We started with decorating our tv stand...
We made "laffy taffy" ropes out of pink tissue paper. Isaiah and Isaac colored pages I printed online of Felix, Penelope, and Ralph. We built a small replica(to our best perfection) ;) of the building that Ralph wrecks on the game. And I threw together some little snacks to enjoy during the movie!

I also went to my go to place for Family Movie tickets, Mommas Playground.

Look how cute Isaiah's picture is...I love how he wrote Fix it Felix across the top. Makes my heart smile!

We made Sugar Rush cars..apple slices, pb, chocolate wheels, and lots of sprinkles. Another fun idea I saw on Mommas playground!:) We tweeked it a little with the materials we had on hand!

So proud of their creations. :)

Isaiah said he was Wreck it Isaiah!

Ready to watch the movie...they loved finding candy surprises in their popcorn!

If your wondering what little man does while we create...well, he just sits and smiles and eats! What a sweetie he is!!!

What a fun family day...well almost family...we were missing daddy. He had to work today!:(

Rain Rain...please please stay (at least for today)

The past couple of days were super rainy and we were super bored. :) We decided to turn the gloomy day into some fun. A mini rain unit seemed appropriate! :)

We started with a little art project we called Raindrop Art! I had seen this idea here on a cute little blog I follow called Little Page Turners. We changed it up a little by adding a different saying and we also used a cutout from the link she had on her blog. I found a little boy body though and added in our little guys faces. They thought it was hilarious. So lots of little giggles while doing this fun project! :)

They started by adding food coloring drops on cardstock paper.
The food coloring can get messy and the paper is heavy once spotted so I would suggest using a pan or cardboard underneath.

Then you stick it under the sprinkles and wait patiently. :) The colors began to mix and the boys were so excited. :)

We did a few worksheets that had to do with weather!

R is for Rain dot painting from 2teachingmommies. ( I think :/ )

Rain cloud pre writing practice.

And an umbrella and rain cloud number dot to dot.

The boys were very proud of their rainbow sand art they made.

Just look at those faces.

Aren't they beautiful? :)

Again...another tip...use a tray to collect the sand. You could also use a funnel. We just didn't have one so the tray worked out great for little hands learning to pour. Look at that sweet little hand. :)

Isaiah had a pattern going. He loved this and asked to do more. Good news is, I bought the sand and the little containers ALL for .50 cents at a garage sale over the summer.  What a steal. And since then I have saved small containers that are clear just for these type of projects. :)

    Next up...rain cloud experiment.

Saw this idea on pinterest, had the materials, so we got to work. :)

Here they are waiting patiently for the rain to drop through the clouds. While we waited we talked about how the clouds get heavy then the rain drops through.

And finally the "rain" started to drop down. We ran out of blue food coloring so orange rain it was. ;)

We summed up our week with rainbow sherbet!
