Family Movie Night~ A Bug's Life

We decided to make it a family movie night tonight! The boys have been all about catching bugs lately so I figured A Bug's Life would be perfect!

We went with the picnic themed table and I named a lot of the foods after characters from the movies!
Dot's Bug Juice, Heimleich's Caterpillar rolls, Slim's Walking Sticks(pretzel rods), Francis Ladybugs(strawberries) and Baby caterpillars(grape kabobs)

Flik's Grain (corn kernals) and watermelon

Atta's ants on a log (celery with pb and raisins) and Dim's Beetles (bbq boneless chicken)

Earlier in the day we made these fun Bug hats! I think Isaac loved his the most...he wore it all afternoon! :) It was so cute!
These are super easy to make. We just cut construction paper for the bands, used white and black construction paper to make the big eyes, and then taped two pipe cleaners on for the antennas. I love how they turned out! So cute! I got this idea from another blogger over at http://www.disboards.com/. (The direct link won't show up for some reason, but I was linked to it through Pinterest!)

After we ate we all enjoyed watching the movie! So much fun together! I will cherish these nights forever!!!

Summer Fun List~ Catching up on our Fun!

We've been marking fun activities off our big Summer Fun list! We have had so much fun already this summer! We most definitely need to get busy marking some more off though! We are finishing up VBS at our church this week and next week we will have some more fun! We have added to our written list at home so we really haven't been bored at all!
Here's some of our pics from the list:

#32. Mad Scientist Monday - (although we actually did this on Wednesday..oops) We chose a diet coke and mentos experiment as our first kick off science experiment this week!  Before we dropped in the mentos we talked about what might happen if they drop a few mentos in! Their predictions were super cute and pretty accurate! What boy doesn't love making an explosion?

#4. Visit the Splash pad- We actually visit this splash pad quite often and will all throughout the summer! It's just too hot here in Texas to not stay in the water all summer!

#50. SWIM all summer-  again we be swimming many many times this summer!

#13. Attend Vacation Bible School(VBS)- Isaiah went last week to his cousins' church with them to VBS and this week we just finished up VBS at our church! He had so much fun at both and made wonderful memories he will always treasure! My nephew came to our church bible school with us. Ian and Isaac also got to go to the one at our church this week because I taught 5th grade. They had so much fun too!

#1. Welcome to Summer Party- Our new tradition of our first day of summer! See all the fun details here!

#41- ZOO fun!-  Our local zoo offers early admission every Monday for the month of June with lots of fun extras they throw in for all the season pass holders! We were able to take advantage of two of these Mondays thankfully! (note the cute penguin in the pic below...awe)

That sums up some of the fun we have been having, but stayed tuned for more! The summer isn't close to over yet!!!

Summer Fun List~ Cool Off Necklaces

Today we made our summer "cool off" necklaces from our summer fun list. I originally saw the idea over at the Crafty Crow. I had tons of sponges left from last years sponge bombs so I knew I would need to show the boys this craft!
All you need is stretchy jewelry cord, sponges cut into squares and a needle with a big opening on the end. I found ours in the crochet area at Walmart.
Then you string them on the cord, tie it off, wet the sponges and then freeze them. When the kiddos are ready to play out in the heat just put these on them and it should help keep them cool!
Easy Peezy!!!

Our Isaiah graduated Kindergarten last week. It was such a bittersweet moment! We are so proud of our little man. It's amazing to see how much he has changed within one year! His personality has truly blossomed and he has become so social.
Before school he was a little shy and it took some time to warm up before he would begin to play with friends. Now, he will see a friend he knows in the supermarket and practically go running to hug them and talk their ears off...I LOVE seeing this.
When he was born I couldn't imagine what he would sound like when he talked, or if he would be quiet, loud, funny, or shy. I just couldn't wait to see him grow and see what he was going to become.
NOW, six years later, I just cannot slow the time down enough. I can't wrap my mind around my baby being in 1st grade! Where did this year go?
Although my heart aches sometimes at the thought of him continuing to grow older, I love that I am here watching him everyday! I love the look on his face when he has learned something new! I love hearing about his activities or new friends at school. And at home I love how much a wonderful helper he has become. He helps me all the time with his two younger brothers. He is such a loving boy and I am truly lucky to be his mother! God blessed me when he chose me to be Isaiah's mom.

Congratulations Bubba! You are now officially a first grader and mommy and daddy couldn't be more proud of you! We love you!!!

WeLcOmE tO SuMmEr Party!!!

Isaiah had a half day the last day of school so I prepared in advance to have our entire party set up and ready to go before I left to pick him up! We asked one of his friends from his class to come home with him to enjoy the activities with the boys!

We started with hot dogs, chips, watermelon, HUGS drinks and flip flop cookies for lunch! Then the kids went outside to play on our new water slide/pool. I had their outside table set up with summer goodies for the boys! We had lots of fun things to play with...silly string, water balloons, bubbles, water guns, sprinklers and more!  We also made homemade snow cones!

Some of the new goods!
Strong boys!

Water slide, roller coaster, sprinkler, and I also set some of our other outside toys out for little man!

I had these filled up and blasted the boys with them! They loved it and immediately joined in! There's just something fun about popping balloons filled with something. lol.

They had a bubble station where they could try out all different types of wands!

Just look at how cute this chalk is! Ian tried eating it!
Our Snoopy Snow cone maker. This one was from my childhood! :)

Sorry in advance for the picture overload...they were just too cute to pick which ones to add to post! They had such a great time! Here's to a fun filled, simple summer!!! :)
