Advent Day # 10: Polar Express Family Movie Night

We had a blast tonight. Isaiah pulled the chain off this morning that said we were going to have a Polar Express Movie Night tonight. We went with the Christmas theme dinner. My hubby made the tickets online. He did a great job. Much better than when I make them. I know who is recruited to "family movie night ticket making" now....:)  During the movie we had hot chocolate, cookies, and popcorn. And towards the end when Santa comes out in show, we gave both boys bell necklaces. I had placed them in the freezer earlier today so they were very cold just like from the North Pole. What an amazing night full of imagination. I really LOVE family movie nights with my loves.

Advent Day # 9

Advent Day# 9 was to take a "Christmas" bubble bath. I had bought new christmas sponges(Santa and a reindeer) earlier in the week so I gave these to the boys right before their special bubble bath. I had the bathroom decorated in Christmas lights and I had some Christmas decorations hung up around the bathroom. (Sorry I don't have any pics of that...I was so focused on getting the boys not to jump in the tub with their clothes on I was limited on my pics.haha) I colored their water red with a tablet used for changing the water color, added bubbles, red and white bath toys, and of course their body paints. They loved the paints. They colored all over the bathtub wall and all over each other. We sang Christmas songs and the boys had a great time. Daddy even joined in on the Christmas songs. :)

Advent Day # 8

Ok so our "really great" plans got a little changed up today. Our original advent activity was to go to a Christmas play at this really fun children's theater we have nearby. However, when we got there this morning the electricity was off in the entire area. There's a lot of construction going on around the theater so they said they thought a line had been cut somewhere nearby. After waiting an hour at the theater in line...they decided to cancel. So we rescheduled to go on another day instead. SOOOO...we turned our frowns upside down:) by going to the mall to visit Santa and play in their awesome play area. The boys were still very happy to Santa. Turned out to be a great day after all. SO Advent Day #8: Visit Santa!!!


My babies looked a little scared. lol...no tears though so it turned out good. haha




After they saw Santa...they got cute little Christmas books.:)

Advent Day # 5, 6 and 7

We have had so much fun over the past week. The very first thing Isaiah does when he wakes up is ask to pull a chain off. Some mornings I don't even have my eyes opened yet when I hear his little voice beside my bed asking if he can pull a link off. Isaac has joined in on most of the activities too. We have something really special planned for day # 8. Stay tuned...the boys are going to be thrilled. :)

 

Day # 5: Give to a charity or organization. We gave baby items to an organization that helps pregnant women or women with young children needing extra help with resources. Isaiah was so sweet when he walked in and handed the lady the goodies we had brought. He told her they were for a baby in need. lol. I was very proud of him.

  

 Day # 6: Make candy cane reindeer ornaments. Isaiah named all of them. lol. This ones name was Comet. ;)




These were priceless...lol...I love the ones with the HUGE eyes. Isaiah insisted we use those because they looked like the hamster Bugsy off of Bedtime Stories. haha



Day # 7: Make homemade Christmas playdoh. We added glitter and peppermint extract to our original recipe. It smelled just like peppermint candy canes. Mmmmm!!!

Advent Day # 4

Day #4 is complete. Todays activity was to make Christmas cards for ones we love!  Rainy, cold weather = perfect day for this advent activity. These are just a few of what we made. It took a long time. Lots of little details.We had a great time!:)

Advent Day #2 and Day #3

Day #2: Color by Number Christmas Tree. Isaiah said he was going to hang it by our tree so Santa could see it when he comes.lol

Day #3: Mail a letter to Santa. Our town has a cute little mailbox set up for kids to mail out there letters to the North Pole. Inside we put a self addressed envelope(to make it easier on santa) and Santa writes back before Christmas. Its so sweet and a great tradition we started with our city last year. He loves it....no worries...we also included Isaac in his letter.:)

Our Christmas Countdown Begins

We are so excited about our countdown this year. We started bright and early December 1st. Every morning the boys wake up and go straight to the chain to pull off another link. We are doing two different types this year...one is our chain countdown where each day we pull a link off and on the back of each one is a Christmas activity to do. Some days it will be an activity or some sort of Christmas surprise. The other is a "fill in the Santa beard" countdown. We will glue a piece of cotton to Santa's beard everyday until all 24 spots are filled in and Santa has a full white beard. I found that one on pinterest. So cute. Of course we are also doing all sorts of activities to remind us about the true reason for the season. Some of these activities are on our chain countdown also. Anyway....Advent Day #1: Open a Christmas Surprise...Christmas DVDs.

Workboxes

Workboxes change up every week. Some days I just pull a few things out and put it on our shelves. Depends on the mood we are in as to what different activities make it out for the week.

File Folder Game- ABC upper and lower case match up



We started with just half of the alphabet and then moved on to add the other half. Now he has mastered it all!




Cutting strips into squares...our shape of the week!




Surprisingly, this activity is one of Isaiahs favorites. He loves using scissors!




And of course puzzles. On this morning we just took this workbox right back to bed where we all sat and had a relaxing morning conquering the puzzles. So many great memories!:)

Play in dirt...and grass...and rocks...and anything else thats messy!

Count their MANY hotwheels MANY times a week.

Momma's little turkeys

This is one tradition I started with the boys last year. Each Thanksgiving I plan on getting a handprint from each boy to add to my apron I will prepare our feast in. I plan on putting Mommy Lil Turkeys at the top...just haven't done so yet.;) I put the year under the print so I can see how much they grow within the year.

These are our cute little ghost blowers. Very easy to make. Glue the ghosts onto coffee stir sticks then slip into a straw..then blow to see how high they can fly. We had contests to see whose ghost could "fly" the highest!

Our sensory bin came out often throughout the month. Isaac LOVED it so much. It would keep him busy for hours.
